The Administrative Building where daily transactions, documents
processing, receiving of guests, lectures on the 
ESWM implementation and guided tour are held.
These are the compost plots where the biodegradable wastes are reduced,
processed and diverted into soil conditioner to be utilized as organic soil
enhancer. Every day, this facility receives an amount of 3,000 kilos of
biodegradable wastes. The average daily harvest of this facility is at
1,500 kilo which is then sold at 2 pesos per kilo.
The picture in the middle is the Residual Waste Processing Facility
where residual waste are pulverized and processed into new products
by combining it with cement, sand and gravel to produce different
concrete products such as paving blocks, hollow blocks,
toilet bowls, cement tiles and balusters

The present Municipal Ecological Park and Ecology Center (MEPEC) of the Office of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Program of the Municipality of Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte is the apex of the successful implementation of Republic Act 9003 otherwise known as "the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000." It is located approximately three and a half kilometers from the Poblacion. Situated in Purok 7, Sitio Cogonal, Barangay San Jose, the MEPEC caters to all collected segregated solid wastes from all sources. Within its two-hectare lot sits the VIEW DECK where all visitors are catered and all important activities are held, the COMPOST PLOTS where all biodegradable wastes are processed for composting, harvesting and sacking, the SEPTIC TANK holds all toxic and infectious wastes collected from all sources, the RESIDUAL WASTE PROCESSING FACILITY produces concrete products derived from a mix of pulverized residual wastes, cement and aggregates, the ORGANIC GARDEN produces fresh and delectable vegetables.

The MEPEC, a transformation of the Old Open Dump-site started its newly structured operations on May 2005. Starting its operations in 1994, the Old Open Dump-site caters to all non-segregated wastes until in last month of 2004 where facility receives an average tonnage of 368 daily. Today, after its total rehabilitation on May 2005, the MEPEC now receives a daily average of three ton segregated wastes from all sources. A legacy of its own, the MEPEC embodies the ideals of LEADERSHIP BY EXAMPLE that made this a nationally and internationally renowned facility.
